Orphans are an eclectic, Chicago-based band, comprised of multi-instrumentalists all
drawing from different influences and backgrounds. This is probably
why categorizing their sound or style has depended on the listener. They've
been described as alternative-rock, alternative-country, and even
celtic-influenced-folk-rock. The main players are Angelo Santucci (guitars,
keyboards, mandolin, vocals), Pat Turner (guitars, vocals), Chris Greene
(violin, percussion), T.J. Pavletic (bass, vocals), and Jim Figiel
(drums, percussion, guitar, vocals). Their shows consistently include
a variety of friends or part-time players that contributes to the band's
sound and style for that particular evening. These
friends sometimes include: Kevin Moran (flute, saxophone, tin whistle),
John Bruce (accordion), Lance Northcutt (bodhran), Michael McDermott
(guitar, piano), John Carpender (drums, percussion), Al Lepinski
(bass, vocals, masculinity), Rick Conrad (vocals, finessed
bullhorn, harmonica) to name a few.
